This Friday and Saturday the Downtown Portland Waterfront will have tens of thousands of people gathering for the Portland CityFest with Luis Palau. A family friendly event for people of all ages, Portland CityFest draws in crowds from all over the Northwest. We strongly recommend you invite your friends, family, a co-worker, or roll solo…. I promise you’ll meet people and make some new friends during this 2-day event festival.

There will be concerts both Friday and Saturday night with Portland based Kutless taking the stage on Friday night.

Throughout the daytime there will be action sports demos featuring world-class BMX athletes, Freestyle Motocross athletes (X-Games Gold Medalist Kyle Loza, pro rider Jimmie McGuire, and X-Games Gold Medalist Greg Hartman), and Pro Skateboarders (Performances from the premiere skateboard ministry King of Kings, featuring Livin It DVD skateboarding stars : Christian Hosoi, Elijah Moore and Anthony Carney).

Fun for the family : Let the kids loose! Starting at 2:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, young ones will find entertainment galore. Let them burn some energy belly laughing at ventriloquist Mark Thompson at 3 & 4:30pm, hugging VeggieTales characters, getting air beneath their feet in the inflatables, creating masterpiece crafts, playing carnival games, getting their faces painted, and much more. Older kids of every age will enjoy testing their athletic skills with the Portland Beavers. Try your hand at a variety of fun outdoor sports and work up a sweat!

An important part of Portland CityFest is the months leading up the event. Local companies and volunteers donate their time and resources to reach out to the Portland Metro Community and beyond. During the Seaon of Service this year, an Wake industry friend, Wakeside.com donated product to help area homeless. Read below how Wakeside contributed to this amazing community outreach campaign :

This summer we were given the opportunity to participate in Luis Palau’s Season of Service by donating sandals to the homeless. We donated over 100 pairs of flip-flops to homeless families in Portland. 224 feet will now have some new sandals to beat the heat in downtown Portland.

The Season of Service was created as a partnership with city governments, service agencies, and the local community to identify and provide resources to service projects for the homeless, the hungry, the medically uninsured and impoverished, the environment, and the public schools. The City of Portland will showcase their nationally recognized “Homeless Connect” program at CityFest during August 22nd-23rd.

As a company, we continually strive to be socially responsible and are always looking to contribute to various social causes. Check out Portland’s CityFest Site to see what you can do to help out : http://www.portlandcityfest.com/season_of_service.
