Oregon River Games

Looking for something to do this weekend with your family and friends? Join fellow Northwest Riders as they converge on the Clackamas River to participate in the Oregon River Games first Wakeboard Comp. The wakeboarding contest is sponsored by Bridge City Watersports, the Portland based Malibu Boat Dealership.

WakeboardNorthwest will be on location to cover the games and even a few local Northwest Pro Riders will be riding in the contest. Check this event out and experience the recreation we have throughout our region.

Even if you are not going to compete in the contest we encourage you to venture out to support our local wake scene.
FORMAT: 3 passes, how many tricks you can pull off, judges score determines placement

DATE/TIME: Saturday, May 5th @ 12pm

LOCATION: Promonotory Park, North Fork Reservoir

*This wakeboard contest is open to pro riders as well as amateurs, and there will be two categories - elite (pro) and intermediate.

In 2005 the Oregon River Games became the opening event of our regions prestigious Portland Rose Festival which draws spectators from throughout the Northwest and beyond. The games were initially centered around non-motorized paddle sports but in an effort to reach out to a greater community of outdoor (water) enthusiasts might have spurred the decision to bring wakeboarding to the mix. These games will be an opportunity to expose people to a multitude of recreational activities we have here in Oregon. The Northwest is known for its beautiful backdrops so if you are in the area or visiting the Portland area during the games I strongly encourage you to rally your friends and family to check out what looks to be a building tradition.

Other Locations you need to know :

* Upper Clackamas River just east of Estacada
(Rafting, Kayaking, and Riverboarding races)

* North Fork Reservoir, just east of Estacada
(Malibu Pro Wakeboarding competition)

* Canyon Creek in SW Washington
(extreme kayak races)

Check back early next week for a recap of the Games as we will be on location to bring you coverage and photos of all the action.
