Where Have You Been?

September 3, 2009 … the last time WakeboardNorthwest.com had a news post for the world of wake.

Fastforward a bit to today, January 8, of 2010. I am writing this post as an update to those of you that still loyally check out this site and to those of you that have always supported me since 2005. Based on the numbers, there are plenty of you still tuning in.

A Brief History

I started Wakeboard Northwest (WBNW) in April of 2005 as a hobby. As I moved to the Seattle, WA area shortly thereafter, the site grew as I became more involved in the industry through retail, events, and just getting out there and riding more…meeting new people and fans of wake.

The crew at Bakes Marine introduced me to their network which included the likes of Sean Kilgus (BFY Productions), Greg Young (Northwest Riders Clothing Co.), Bryan Myss (Action Sports Photographer), John Thorburn (NMTA), many of the Malibu Boats family, and a ton of others. As these relationships grew, WakeboardNorthwest.com did also.

In 2006, I became part owner of Northwest Riders Clothing Company and started splitting time between that, Bakes, and WBNW. The close ties between the three companies allowed all to slowly pick up steam and benefit from each of the individual successes that were had.

As time has gone on my personal resources have been pulled, stretched, and bounced all over the map. Late last year (2009), I decided to make WBNW a part of the Northwest Riders vision. Heading into 2010 there are a lot of ideas being researched and planned on how best to move WBNW forward. Rest assured, this web site is still in its infancy and will be back better than ever very soon.

What Can You Do?

If you are a rider, reader, photographer, video guru, writer, comedian, technology wizard, or just a wake enthusiast…we NEED to hear from you! Leave a comment at the bottom of this post and introduce yourself. Tell us who you are, what you do, and why you enjoy wake. We want to make you a part of the site moving forward. We need your opinions, likes, dislikes, ideas, and collective creativity to bring the best content possible in the years ahead.

What To Expect

WakeboardNorthwest.com will still have a lull before it gets back up and running. Until then, keep checking in and leaving your comments. This is currently a one man show and we all know that the power of the web and the wake world lies in community. I will post more details in the months to come.

Thanks again to all of you that have not stopped supporting us!

Sincerely,

Zack Clark

Ok, I’ll go first. I’m a video producer/editor with a side of motion graphics. I’m also an amateur photographer. I usually wakeboard at Lake Stevens but make it to Sammamish on occasion.

  2. Chris Craig Says:

A how to every week would be great, everything from boat driving to wakeboarding. Let the local Riders and photographers write the articles and get involved. Can’t wait to see this site back in full effect.

    Hi guys,

Any local coverage, videos, events etc… would be great. Anything to promote the local scene and bring local riders together and build the local wakeboard community. Let me know what I can do to help.

Zack, Thanks for the update! It’s great to know that there is still some behind the scenes stuff going on with WBNW and NWR! It’s always been great to have a site dedicated to the happenings right here in the NW. Keep up the great work and don’t be shy in asking for help and support!

    -Chad

P.s. I’ve been riding in the NW for something like 12+ years now. Wake has been one of my outlets that help me to cope with the psychotic issues occurring in my head.

  7. Aaron Huntley Says:

Welcome back! Its good to see a new post.
This Aaron from Olympia, and part of the OLY Riders.. (with riders from all over the state, and more)

WBNW and NWR has been a good resource in the past and has the potential to continue doing so.
Updates of local events, interviews or feedback from local riders, stories, pictures and videos would all be nice on the site,
The good, the bad and the wet..of the northwest.
Are you also including.. the wakeskaters?? 

All in all, anything you can do would be good, anything is better than nothing.. best wishes and best of luck!

    thanks for the new post!

  8. Joel Smeby Says:

Good to hear from you Zack. I’m from the Tri-Cities and mainly ride the Columbia River and Snake River (year round). Also helped found the Tri-City Riders. We usually put on one to two wakeboarding video premieres each year, several demo days, and the Wake the Desert competition.

New content to get people to the site is always good. An rss feed is great for me so I know when something is updated. Events, interviews with local and regional riders, where they ride and who they are. I like the tip of the week idea. It wouldn’t even have to be from a pro. Could just be a simple little thing that helped someone land a new trick.
Keep up the good work. Let us know how we can help.
    -Joel

  9. Mark Says:

The website has been my saving grace over the years, its grat to see the local guys geting exposure, it would re awesome to see some video on the site. Ill join everyone else in saying feel free to ask for help. I ride Cavanaugh, Stevens, Washington, and the columbia with a great crew of guys. we used to run Nite Riders wakeboard school and are always around to help out or give a free pull. Flag us down if you see the NR boat. Come on summer, keep up the great work.

  10. Kyle Feria Says:

I am also a video shooter/producer/editor, moved up here from San Diego and haven’t been out on the water up here yet. I can’t wait.
also, WBNW should start producing some episodic programming

  11. Sean Says:

  12. Bess Says:

    Zack,

Just creepin’ WBNW from China and thinking of summer! I’ve written a few blogs for my site covering wakeboard events in the Tri-Cities. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help out (I’m back in June). Hope all is well and keep up the great work!!
