Koppert Lake Spring Classic Stays Dry

Last weekend was the annual right of wake passage in the Northwest somewhere between Portland, OR and Seattle, WA (Koppert Lake). The AWS Spring Classic always draws some great local talent and this year had the likes of the Cardoza brothers, Bret van den Heuvel, Sam Cole, Thomas Olson, and others. The event is more or less a kick off for the season. Most riders wore drysuits or hefty wetsuits, while a few “trunked” it and paid the price with some frigid water temps.

The air was filled with clouds that seemed to be fighting back letting the rain fall from their grasp while the occasional drop made its way to someone’s forehead below. In typical Northwest Spring fashion, the day prior to the event was pushing 80 degrees and looking like mid-summer. However, the rain held back until the event capped off and it was another great start to the wake season that lies ahead.
