Northwesterner Nick Jones has had plenty of down time over the last year due to a worse than nagging foot injury. WakeboardNorthwest.com reported on the initial surgery back in August of ‘07 and we also had a follow up with Jones later last September ‘07 to see how the healing was going. Some more time has passed, and Mr. Jones is ready to start ripping again.

Here is a little more information on the Wake VIP Party going down tomorrow night (Friday Jan. 25, 7-10PM). Capacity is 200 people so show up early. There will be riders, giveaways, videos, the works. This happens at the Fox Sports Lounge at Qwest Convention Center where the Seattle Boat Show is being held. Your boat show ticket will get you in so hold on to it for access.

We recently had the opportunity to sit down with W.I.T. Production’s front man Spencer Norris and ask a few questions about his upcoming film “One Eye Shut.” Norris has been filming with some of the Northwest’s top talent as well as some rippers from Florida and other areas across the US of A. The film is the follow up to his freshman effort “The Arrival” and by the looks of it, will be a great addition to the young filmers resume.

It’s been three weeks since Nick Jones went into surgery to repair a Liz Frank Fracture (a tear of the ligament between the first and second metatarsal) in his foot which was slowly pulling the two bones apart. He has been dealing with the injury most of the season since January when the initial fracture occurred. Now post surgery, Nick is in good spirits and on the road to recovery.

The surgery was successful from what his doctors say. While in the recovery room, Dr. Chi explained that once he removed the scared tissue from the injured area, the bones that were separated went right back in place. Dr. Chi says that the procedure went far better than he expected it would.

Spencer Norris of W.I.T. Productions (The Arrival) is currently filming for his Winter 2007 release. Norris took a trek through Washington for a filming trip at Koppert Lake and the greater southern Washington area. He shot with some of the most progressive wakeskaters in the sport, Nick Taylor and Matt Manzari.

I am sitting here at the hospital in the waiting room while Nick Jones is in surgery. Nick has been plagued by an injury that occurred in January. However, it did not stop him from having another great season. He finished in the top 20 of the Pro Wakeboard Tour, appeared in the industry magazines, attended the CWB team photoshoot, and even had time to film a few sections for next year’s wake flicks. Nick Jones is truly one of the best Northwest grown riders. He is determined to start riding again in January after therapy is complete. We wish Nick all the best during his recovery. Phillip Soven, Rusty Malinoski, Chad Sharpe, and Danny Harf are all contenders for the title with the points standings so close. This is an event you do not want to miss.

Last years Portland Pro Tour stop showcased some of the best Pro Tour runs ever seen. This stop is where the top pros put everything on the line in hopes of winning the Tour Title.
